Morning Sky
06:29
|
|||
All I see is what I'm given to my eyes
the sun is shining suns on me
It's so hard to feel alive sometimes
In a world where you're a part of what you see
But I won't rise until I'm ready
Please don't force me awake
After all, we both know that it shows I can hear you
And that you will be less than life takes.
I would try to save you
But how would I feel if you didn't make it?
I would try to save you
But how would you feel if I couldn't take it?
and so I sit still.
Darling, why are you on my window sill?
It's not your reflection dear, so please don't mistake it
You'll be better off to fly away
Into the morning sky
But first, finish your song.
What I hear is how I listen with my ears
Why aren't you somewhere being free
If your voice can fill the silence and the fear
Why instead are you whistling to me?
Explain to me melodiously
how nice it must be to be
After all, we both know that expression is power
But the spirit is never truly free.
I would try to save you
but how would I feel if you didn't make it?
I would try to save you
But how would you feel is I couldn't take it?
Abd so I sit still.
Darling, why are you on my window sill?
It's not your reflection dear, so please don't mistake it
You'll be better off to fly away
Into the morning sky
But first, finish your song.
How I feel is what I'm given to my feelings
An hourglass is blackening your wings
Why should you be concerned with things like time
Counting down your life and its meaning (Just!)
You're not supposed to understand it
Who are you really anyway?
After all we both know that we live here with strangers
And our silence may have much to say.
I would try to save you
but how would I feel if you didn't make it?
I would try to save you
But how would you feel if I couldn't take it?
And so I sit still.
Darling, why are you on my window sill?
It's not your reflection, dear, so please don't mistake it
You'll be better off to fly away
Into the morning sky
But first, finish your song.

Guess what?
The sun and I are
we are best friends now
I bet you didn't expect that, did you now? (Haha)
Well, I'll tell you exactly how it happened
If you lend me an ear for a minute or two.
So, basically, I was outside
Eating a PB&J with fries
and suddenly, it's frying eggs
on my picnic blanket.
And I look up at the sky
and I ask the sun, "What is going on?"
Cuz I don't have time, oh I don't have time
Oh I don't have time, oh, oh I don't have time
I don't have time, little sun,
for your shenanigans
But did it seem to give a damn?
Oh, no, he just kept on fryin'
Well so then I just went ahead
And put on some jalapeño peppers
and some garlic and some onions
and some tomatoes
and a couple of shaved carrots
and some olives too
and even a few mushrooms.
And I just, I just played along
Until I was singing this song
I said, "Oh dear, my sun, are you done?"
Oh, and guess what that son of a gun did?
Oh, it started raining!
And that's the end of the story.
I bet you were hoping for something
A little bit more extravagant
But, oh, this is all you get
Oh, it's all you get.
I'm sorry,
Maybe in the next life
I'll have something more interesting to say
But right here, and right now
This is the end of the tale
Of how the sun and I became pals.

GUADALAJARA

Somewhere far above the mountains
In a great, blue, wide-open sky
The sun don't shine on a golden lake
Where it went, for heaven's sake
I don't know.
Somewhere deep inside a valley
The sun sleepwalks but never wakes
So how do you know
If the flowers will grow to the sky?
Why, why do you fear
That the color wheel will fade away?
And birds will never fly again
In the light.
And you will never smile again
In the light.
And he said, because tonight
I feel the end is somewhere
Near to us again
Something's in the wind.
Look to the right
And see what's left of us and
Tell me all you can.
Describe it and provide an answer
Then you'll understand.
Then you'll understand.
Somewhere far away beyond this boundary called the sky
Yes the great, blue, wide-open sky.
The sun cries tears of molten fire
Where they went, if beyond my eyes, I don't know
Somewhere deep
Inside a garden yesterday
The sun embraced the flowers with its rays
So why do you feel
that the Earth will stand still tomorrow?
And why do you assume that shadows will rise
After the time of the moon in the morning?
And the world will be a darker place
with each day.
And he said, because tonight I feel that
What believed in us is giving up on us.
And he said because tonight
I feel the end is somewhere
Near to us again
Something's in the wind.
Look to the right
And see what's left of us and
tell me all you can
Describe it and provide an answer
Then you'll understand.
Then you'll understand.

The World's a Song
06:06
|

She believes the moon's out past the curfew
and that every star just wants to play
and every rainbow tells her stories
of the storm that cleared its way
but suddenly the world is silent
and from the depths a star is born
shining eyes cannot deny that
tears are falling from the sun
oh how we all wish to see more
oh how we all want to believe
and so we let ourselves be frightened
to conceal such mysteries
and we forget what makes us angry
the things that sadden us are gone
in the distance they are saying
we are the lyrics, the world's a song
she believes the world's a song
and I believe she sings along
she believes the world's a song
sometimes I hear her sing along.
